Meet Gabriela Reutter, International Show Jumper & Oughton Pro Rider

Gabriela Reutter is a Chilean Pro Show Jumper currently based out of Wellington, FL. Gaby started riding when she was four years old in Chile. She moved to the U.S. at age 18 to study at NYU and to develop her riding career.

About Gaby

Becoming a professional show jumper has been Gaby’s goal since she was eight years old. In 2022, she competed at the South American Games on her mare, Rocky, and received Team Bronze for Chile, making her the only female to medal in the team final. The SA Games were a big step toward her goal of representing her country at the Olympics.

WE ASKED GABY

What's your favorite part about riding?

My favorite part about riding is creating a bond with my horse and working together every day!

How did you handle the transition of moving to Wellington and starting your business there?

The first time I came to Wellington to ride was a big shock for me. It was the equivalent of going to Disneyland as a kid! I’ve been spending the winter season in Wellington since 2014. My parents bought a house there in 2022, and since then Wellington has become my home base.

The transition to owning my own business, Lumiere Horses Inc., was super smooth thanks to the guidance of Chris Kappler. He has helped me tremendously and has taught me how to be a horsewoman and a professional in the equestrian world

What's your advice would you give to a rider chasing their goals?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and opportunities. The worst answer you can get is “no,” but if you don’t even ask, you are missing chances of a “yes.”
